Gay-D-O - Gay Dance Online Internet Radio
A new gay dance internet radio station launches in Leeds and is proving to be a huge success with the gay community and dance music lovers around the world. Gay-D-O.com - Gay Dance Online has only been operating a few months and already has an audience of over 10,000 listeners per month in 74 countries, a free iPhone application has been launched and had over 5,000 downloads, a website (www.gay-d-o.com) and recently an official launch party in the UK. Chris Moss who developed, owns and runs the station had the idea while wanting to listen to some dance music radio on a train to London. On his return home, he looked into the complexities of setting up and internet radio station that could be heard on the web and on mobile phones. “Coming from a web design background, that part was easy but I had to learn about music licensing, music streaming, mobile phone applications etc. I decided to aim it at the gay community because the gay nightlife is unbelievable. The vibe, atmosphere and music are second to none and I wanted my station to try and capture some of that” Gay-D-O.com - Gay Dance Online was only intended to be selection of dance music played over and over but after a very short while, offers were coming in from established local and international DJ’s wanting to play on the station, so now the station has DJ sets on weekend evenings which are repeated through the week for people who are out on weekends. The station is financed by offering cheap online and radio advertising to companies wanting to attract the worldwide gay community. Plans for next year include a brand new website, new exciting features, more events and charity events.
